Overview

Due to Covid-19, we are committed to adopting out animals into great homes, but we want to keep everyone safe. We will be performing possible adoption meet and greets for dogs via appointment only. Begin by taking a look at our available cats and dogs on our website. It will take 2-3 visits to start the adoption process for dogs. Our Cat room is open to the public during our normal business hours; appointments are not necessary. Call DCHS at 402-721-3282 to ask any further questions about the animal(s). Once you found a possible furry friend, our Adoption Coordinator will be in contact with you to set up an appointment. Same day appointments are unavailable at this time.

Our goal is to find a new, permanent and loving home for every pet. All of our animals have their own unique personalities and we wish to ensure that the adoption is a perfect match you and for the animal. Our staff will help you find just the right pet for your family. We provide pictures and bios for each of our animals, however, we encourage adopters to come in and visit with an animal before adopting. Each of our animals have their own unique personalities that can only be seen in person.

  • Adoptions are same day, and are first-come, first-served as long as it's a good match! No holds or "deposits" can be placed on any animals. You must be 18 years old to adopt.

  • We recommend you allow ample time to learn about your new companion and complete the process.

  • If you are increasing the number of furry family members in your home, current pets must be up to date on the rabies vaccination.

  • If you are wishing to adopt a dog and already own a dog, a "Meet & Greet" between the two is required.

  • Adopters must have valid ID with current address. If you do not own your home, please have your property management or landlord's phone number available.

Pricing:

  • Kittens (Under 1 year) - $100 + Tax = $107

  • Cats (1+ year) - $50 + Tax = $53.50

  • Puppies (Under 1 year) - $250 + Tax = $267.50

  • Dogs (1+ year) - $200 + Tax = $214

While you can’t put a price tag on a lifetime of kisses, companionship and unconditional love, there are costs involved in caring for a healthy pet. When you adopt a pet from the Dodge County Humane Society, we’ve already performed procedures that are critical for maintaining his or her good health. These important benefits are provided to you with each adoption, and include the following:

  • Initial Preventative Vaccinations

  • Microchipping

  • Veterinary Health Exam

  • Spay/Neuter

  • New Parent Adoption Goodie Bag
